U.S.A. About 7,000 M1903's were rebuilt at Philadelphia in 1938.  These are identified by the following characteristics:  All receivers were "high number", all had a "Hatcher Hole" in left receiver wall, they had vice marks on barrel root, buttstocks were "boned" (smoothed and polished), they had a hand-stippled buttplate and a punch mark in front of serial number.  This rifle exhibits ALL of the above traits. The bore is very clean  and shiny, with a muzzle-wear of 0.0.  Most of the rifles so refurbished were sent to China, the Philippines, the Fleet, and, eventually, Guadalcanal so the survival rate must be very low. Included is a worn 1918-dated M1907 leather sling, front sight hood, and correct metal oiler in butt trap.  Not import-marked, .  PHOTOS . . . $2600.       C&R      SOLD
