ARGENTINE Model 1891 Mauser bolt-action rifle # E7702 (7.65x53) mfg. by Loewe in 1893.  Excellent condition, with 92+% bluing on all parts.  Crest above chamber has been ground (as usual).  All matching serial numbers including bolt and cleaning rod. ARGENTINE Model 1891 Mauser bolt-action cavalry carbine # A0172 (7.65x53) mfg. by Ludwig Loewe in 1892. Near Excellent condition, with 90% or more bluing (some pitting at the wood line). Clear national crest, all matching serial numbers. Bore is strong and mostly bright. Original walnut stock has very thin 1" crack at tang. ARGENTINE Model 1909/47 Mauser bolt-action cavalry carbine # 001106 (7.65x53) mfg. by F.M.A.P. (Rosario) in 1951. A Near Excellent example, with 90% bluing on all metal that should be blued (thinning on top of barrel by barrel bands and on triggerguard and magazine floorplate from contact with sweaty hands), receiver in the white. Very bold Argentine crest above chamber. All-matching serial numbers on all parts (including stock) with a strong mostly bright bore. ARGENTINE BORDER GUARD Model 1909/47 Mauser bolt-action cavalry carbine # 014865 (7.65x53) mfg. by F.M.A.P. (Rosario) in 1952. A Near Excellent example, with 95% bluing on all metal that should be blued, receiver in the white. Very bold G. N. above 00.715 above chamber (Gendarmeria National). All-matching serial numbers on metal parts with an excellent mirror-bright bore. Light local-wood stock has some old handling-marks (mostly small dings and scratches) with faint mismatched serial # (014728) on right side. Quite scarce. one of just several hundred with these markings produced. Has very tiny import mark on right rear of receiver. PHOTOS . . . $1250.     C&R      

BELGIAN Model 1935 Mauser bolt-action short rifle # 18843 (7.65x53mm) mfg. in Liege in the late-1930's. Very Good or better condition with 85+% original bluing (turning brown) and a surprisingly sharp mirror-bright bore. All matching serial numbers EXCEPT bolt (which matches itself), stock is numbered 18843 to match on left side. Missing cleaning-rod, but remaining Belgian parts are present.  Receiver is marked MANUFACTURE D'ARMES DE L'ETAT with tangent-sight calibrated from 100-1900 meters. CHILEAN Model 1895 Mauser bolt-action infantry rifle # F15 (7x57) mfg. by Loewe in 1895.  Near Excellent condition, with 90% original deep bluing and all-matching serial numbers (including cleaning-rod) with bold Chilean crest above chamber.  Strong, extremely shiny bore, lovely walnut stock (with 1895-dated cartouche) has a few scuffs and handling-marks but original finish and has not been sanded. COLOMBIAN Model 47 bolt-action rifle # 6497-58 (.30-06),  mfg. by Madsen in 1958.   Excellent-PLUS condition, with full original black-painted finish, bore is mirror-perfect.  Stock has a few small scratches but no apparent wear, has large round detailed Colombian Armed Forces medallion inset on left side. This was the last military bolt-action rifle designed for general use (complete with very effective muzzle-break and recoil-pad as issued), not import-marked. PHOTOS . . . $1450.       C&R  

CZECH Model 98k Mauser bolt-action rifle # 2392g (8mm) mfg. by Brno (code swp 45) in 1945.   Near Excellent condition, with nearly full bluing. stamped magazine floorplate and enlarged "winter" triggerguard.  All serialized parts matching. Bore is mirror-bright and very strong. Receiver and barrel have Czech two-tailed rampant lion proofs on left side instead of eagle / swastikas. Stock has some handling marks but is sound, includes cleaning rod and leather sling with buckle, not import-marked.  PHOTO . . . $925.    C&R   

FRENCH Model 1949-56 MAS semiautomatic rifle # H20724 (7.5x54) manufactured at St. Etienne in 1968. Excellent condition, with full Parkerizing. Has great mirror-bright bore. Includes one ten-round magazine and slip-on rubber buttpad, no other accessories. Wood stock has a few very minor handling marks on both sides. GERMAN Model Kar. 88 bolt-action Commission cavalry carbine # 4688d  (8x57i) mfg. by C.G. Haenel in 1890. Very Good overall condition, with 70% thinning and browning bluing (receiver was in the white, as is proper, but is stained from age). All matching serial numbers, unit mark 8. U. 5. 68. on right side of barrel-band. Bolt has spoon-type handle. Excellent mirror-bright bore (NOT stamped with S).  Buttstock was been lightly sanded long ago.   Includes two (2) of the scarce charger clips. Not import-marked. GERMAN Model Kar 98 bolt-action Mauser carbine # 2194ee  (8x57mm) mfg. by Erfurt in 1917 with 1920 counterstamp.  Very Good or better condition, most fading bluing intact.   All matching serial numbers (bolt handle restamped 2194 to match).  Very strong and extremely bright bore.  Buttstock is original beech (numbered 2194) with a few handling marks from actual use and two R.E.W cartouches on right side, 1920 stamped on left side. GERMAN Model 98k Mauser bolt-action rifle # 2949g (8x57) mfg. by Gustloff Werke (factory code 337) in 1940.  Very Good or better condition, with much original bluing on upper metal (more wear on barrel-bands and buttplate).   This rifle is all-matching except for front barrel band and bolt (# 8098, which has been inscribed 2949 on root of handle to match).   The laminated stock has eagle/H cartouches and quite a few scuffs and dings (looks as if this rifle has never been cleaned). Bore is extremely bright and strong.  Includes cleaning rod and brittle leather sling with buckle. GERMAN Model 98k Mauser bolt-action rifle # 611i (8x57) mfg. by Mauser Borsigwalde (factory code 243) in 1938.  Very Good or better condition, with nearly full original bluing on upper metal (more wear on barrel-bands and buttplate).   This is a composite of two rifles, the barreled receiver (including bolt, all bolt parts, magazine and triggerguard in all numbered 611 (matching), and has three bold eagle/swastika proofs on right side of receiver, with Weimar markings (eagles with folded wings) on the left side next to serial number. The solid wood stock, handguard, barrel bands and buttplate is from a different 98k (all those numbered parts stamped 570),  Bore is extremely bright and strong.  Solid wood stock has clear Nazi proofs on right side with flat buttplate. Includes cleaning rod and brittle leather sling with buckle. Not import marked, likely a bringback whose original matching duffle-cut stock was replaced in the distant past.  PHOTO . . . $1650.    C&R     

GERMAN Model 98k Mauser bolt-action rifle # 3859y (8x57) mfg. by Bystrica (factory code dou 44) in 1944.  Near Excellent condition (NOT a Russian rework) with full remaining bluing on all but barrel bands and a very bright bore. Nazi swastikas proofs are intact, all serialized parts are mismatched. Laminated stock has no markings with cupped buttplate. JAPANESE Type I Carcano bolt-action rifle # D7715 (6.5x50) mfg. by Beretta in 1939. Excellent condition with full bluing and a mostly bright and strong bore.  Includes its cleaning rod, wood retains its original finish and has never been sanded with some dings from actual use. JAPANESE Type 99 Arisaka bolt-action long rifle Series 35, # 4797 (7.7x58) mfg. at Toyo Kogyo (Hiroshima prefecture) from June 1940 to March 1941. Excellent condition with full original bluing, bolt and all bolt parts numbered 175, mum heavily ground. The first 7 in the serial number is struck over a 6. This type has ladder rear sight without anti-aircraft wings, a provision for monopod (which is missing) and a plum-shaped bolt handle with checkered safety knob.  Includes cleaning rod, wood has original finish and has never been sanded with few of the usual heavy handling marks and minor diagonal cracks on both sides near tang. JAPANESE Type 99 Arisaka bolt-action short rifle no Series # 1515 (7.7x58) mfg. at Nagoya in mid 1941. Excellent condition with all original bluing intact, bore is chrome-lined and mirror-bright. Intact mum, bolt and all bolt parts numbered 054. Includes original cleaning rod and rare bakelite muzzle cover and also retains anti-aircraft rear sights. JAPANESE Type 99 Arisaka bolt-action short rifle no Series # 69601 (7.7x58) mfg. at Nagoya in mid 1941. Excellent condition with all original bluing intact, bore is chrome-lined and mirror-bright. Mum has been lightly ground but much of it visible, all matching serial numbers including all bolt parts, includes original cleaning rod, missing monopod, but retains anti-aircraft rear sights. JAPANESE Type 99 Arisaka bolt-action short rifle Series 24, # 87947 (7.7x58) mfg. at Nagoya from  April to December 1944.  Near Excellent condition with much original splotchy bluing remaining with intact mum!    This type has ladder-type rear sight with peep aperture and includes original fabric sling that has been sewn on. No cleaning rod, bolt (and all bolt parts) numbered 947 (matching). Bore is mostly bright and rifling is very strong, wood has original finish with many heavy dings and dents from actual service use but has no cracks, white Kanji character painted on right side. Top of receiver has splashed areas of missing bluing, caused by what is likely contact with human blood. Not import-marked. PHOTO . . . $975.      C&R

Excellent condition with full original bluing, all matching serial numbers (bolt and all bolt parts numbered 066) with lightly ground (almost intact) mum. Includes anti-aircraft rear sights (the right one needs tightening), missing cleaning rod.  Wood has original finish and has diagonal cracks on both sides at tang.  Chrome-lined bore is mirror-bright and very strong.  Not import-marked. Excellent condition with full original bluing, chrome-lined bore is strong and mirror-bright. Mum has been heavily ground, has plum-shaped bolt-handle with knurled safety, all matching serial numbers. Includes cleaning rod, cupped metal buttplate, missing aircraft sight wings. JAPANESE Type 99 Arisaka bolt-action short rifle Series 40 # 54786 (7.7x58) mfg. at Jinsen Arsenal  (Inchon, Korea) in Summer 1945. Very Good or better condition with full original bluing (fading to brown). All matching serial numbers, mum totally obliterated. This type has fixed peep rear sight, cylindrical bolt handle with welded safety knob, wooden buttplate and still has grooves on receiver for action cover but no provision for cleaning rod. Stock and short handguard has original finish and has never been sanded. Bore is quite bright and strong. Not import-marked, functional.  PHOTO . . . $425.    C&R      SOLD

PERUVIAN Model 1909 Mauser bolt-action infantry rifle # 514 (7.65x53) mfg. by Mauser in c. 1914. Near Excellent condition, with 95% or better original bluing (receiver has been blued). Bore is very bright and strong.  Peruvian crest is very bold, and that roller-coaster rear sight works perfectly. All numbered parts matching EXCEPT BOLT  (as usual, as the bolts were stored separate from the rifles for security), but it has been inscribed 514 to match on root of handle above the bolts stamped number. Walnut stock has large MAUSER cartouche on right side, some dings, scratched, and other handling marks are present. Missing cleaning-rod, includes weathered 1907-type leather sling. The barrels on these rifles were produced in Switzerland by Schweizerische Industrie-Gesellschaft (SIG). Not import-marked, rare. PHOTOS . . . $1250.*    C&R    

PORTUGUESE Model 904/39 Mauser-Verguiero bolt-action short rifle # 147 (8x57) mfg. by DWM in 1904. Excellent condition with full bluing, all-matching serial numbers and bold royal crest above chamber. Original finish (browning in  places) with a nice mirror-bright bore, includes cleaning-rod. Stock has no finish and very few handling marks. Includes hinged muzzle-cap. Originally chambered in the obsolete 6.5x58 Verguiero cartridge, these rifles were slightly shortened and rechambered to 8x57 in Germany just before WWII and have one of the smoothest actions of any military rifle.   PHOTOS . . . $850.    C&R   

PORTUGUESE Model 937A bolt-action rifle # E18753 (8mm) mfg. by Mauser in 1937, literally a 98k with bold Nazi eagle/swastika markings and bold (and fancy) Portuguese crest above chamber.  Near Excellent condition overall, with 80+% bluing on barreled receiver, barrel-bands, triggerguard and magazine floorplate browned from contact with sweaty hands. Some pitting at the wood line. Bore is strong if not very bright, eagle / swastikas on left side of receiver and barrel-shank very bold. Bolt (and all bolt parts) and both barrel-bands are numbered 8753 to match receiver.   Remaining parts (including bolt) all mismatched. Includes cleaning-rod and front sight-hood.  Stock has stenciled rack numbers on both sides, Many rifles in this 98k contract never made it to Portugal, but were pressed into service with the Wehrmacht and Luftwaffe during WWII and are sometimes found as "bringbacks" or Russian (and even Norwegian) captures.  Not import marked. SPANISH CIVIL WAR  Model 1916 Mauser bolt-action infantry short rifle # A653  (7x57mm) made by CATALUNA (a Republican factory near Barcelona) in 1937.   Very Good or better condition, with full bluing on all external metal turning brown from age. The root of the bolt inscribed A653 to match.  Bore is extremely bright and strong. Walnut stock has very few dings and scratches but no cracks. Includes mismatched cleaning.  Not import marked, rare (only around 25,000 produced by what became the losing side in the conflict, thus very few survived).   PHOTOS . . . $1250.       C&R    SOLD

SWISS Model K31 Schmidt-Rubin short rifle # 746057 (7.5x55mm) mfg. by Waffenfabrik Bern in 1943. All-matching serial numbers (including magazine).  Near Excellent condition with 85% or better external bluing (thinning in areas) and a perfect, mirror bore. All-matching serial numbers (including magazine).  Excellent condition with 95% or better external bluing and a bright and strong bore. Wood is walnut walnut with usual dings, scrapes and handling marks in the finish. XI 43 stamped beneath buttplate with soldier's tag.
