CHINESE Type 53 Mosin Nagant bolt-action carbine # 3263644 (7.62x54R) mfg. by Factory 26 in 1955. Excellent condition, with 90% bluing and all matching serial numbers. Bore is mirror-bright. CHINESE Type 53 Mosin Nagant bolt-action carbine # G4968 (7.62x54R) mfg. by Factory 26 in 1960. Excellent condition, with 95% bluing and all matching serial numbers (bolt numbered H9468 in error). FINN Model 1891 Mosin Nagant bolt-action rifle # 23908 with ROUND RECEIVER (7.62x54R) barrel mfg. by Fabrique National in 1942 on a 1939 dated Izhevsk receiver. Excellent-PLUS condition, with 99% or better bluing and a mirror bright and strong bore (NOT counterbored at muzzle). Bolt-knob stamped 3908 (matching), buttplate and magazine floorplate not matching (as usual). Finn two-piece stock looks new, with only a couple insignificant nicks and compressions from transporting it across the Atlantic. Includes cleaning rod and metal sling swivels. FINN Model 1891 DRAGOON Mosin-Nagant bolt-action rifle # 38288 (7.62x54R) mfg. by Izhevsk in 1920 on an 1896 dated Tula receiver with both [SA] and 41 Finn property marks on either side of barrel-shank. Excellent condition, with 95% or better bluing on all metal parts. Bore is rough (from not being cleaned properly after firing corrosive ammunition) but rifling is very pronounced (has NOT been counterbored at muzzle). Bolt body stamped 38288 (matching), buttplate and magazine floorplate scrubbed (as usual). The rarer Dragoon rifle has a blade front sight and a ladder rear sight like the larger 1891 rifle (rather than the hooded-post front and tangent rear sight of the later very common 91/30). Two-piece Finn buttstock has some handling marks but is sound, some letters and numbers stamped on right side (unit marks?). Includes cleaning rod and bolt-type sling swivels. PHOTOS . . . $875. FINN Model 28/30 Mosin-Nagant bolt-action rifle # 41365 (7.62x54R), mfg. by SAKO in 1935 on a post-1898 receiver with SK.Y civil-guard marking. Excellent-PLUS condition with full bluing. Has an excellent mirror-bright bore, S62250 on right side of barrel-shank (Viipuri Civil Guard district, which is now the city of Viborg in Russia). Bolt is curiously not numbered. FINN Model 91/30 Mosin-Nagant bolt-action rifle # ZHb637 (7.62x54R) mfg. by Tula in 1943 on an undated Chatellerault receiver (produced only in 1892-4) with [SA] and 3600 Finn property-marks. Eoxcellent or better condition with all bluing remaining on external metal. Bore is mirror bright with very strong rifling (has NOT been counterbored at muzzle). Bolt-knob numbered 637 (matching), remaining numbered parts mismatched or scrubbed. Postwar two-piece Finn buttstock looks as-new, includes Finn cleaning rod and metal bolt-type sling swivels as well as detached Finn arsenal tag dated March 13, 1984 (likely when refurbished and stock replaced). 1943 is a very late date for a Finn captured rifle during their Continuation War with the Soviet Union. HUNGARIAN Model 48M Mosin-Nagant bolt-action rifle # CA3659 (7.62x54R) mfg. by FÉG (factory code 02) in 1951. Excellent-PLUS condition (essentially UNISSUED) with perfect bluing on all metal parts and a mirror-bright bore (NOT counterbored at muzzle). All matching serial numbers. Includes cleaning rod, has modern German proofs on left side of barrel. Walnut buttstock has only a couple of scuffs with subtle tigerstripe figure and otherwise totally pristine. Includes 02-marked Hungarian spike bayonet and correct 02-marked sling and accessories. While Hungarian PU snipers are quite scarce, regular Hungarian 91/30-type rifles like this one are extremely rare. An UNIMPROVABLE museum-quality example, worthy of the FINEST COLLECTION. Good to Very Good or better, bluing has turned uniformly brown (likely from being a "wall hanger" for decades). Bore is mostly bright and has pronounced rifling, has NOT been counterbored at muzzle. JAPANESE Model 1891 Mosin-Nagant bolt-action SINGLE-SHOT TRAINING rifle # 47264 (7.62x54R) mfg. by Remington in 1918. Excellent or better condition, with full bluing and little signs of actual wear. Bore is mirror-bright and very strong. has NOT been counterbored at muzzle. Buttplate stamped 47264 (matching barrel), bolt and back of cocking-knob) stamped 46264 (not matching, but only a single digit off and likely an error from those who do not utilize the Western numbering system). Buttstock has been sanded, but there is a VERY pronounced cartouche on right side inside a box that reads HOSEI UNIVERSITY (located in Tokyo) as well as the large stamped number 440 over faint Remington Czarist cartouche Includes cleaning-rod. JAPANESE Model 1891 Mosin-Nagant / Arisaka HYBRID bolt-action SINGLE-SHOT TRAINING rifle # 16372 (7.62x54R) mfg. by Izhevsk in 1899 on a ROUND receiver. Very Good or better condition, bluing is quite strong. Bore is very bright and has pronounced rifling, has NOT been counterbored at muzzle. This rifle has a Mosin action and bolt (as noted above), but the remainder of the rifle resembles an Arisaka, right down to the forend, barrel-bands, front sight and the two-piece Arisaka buttstock. Has an Arisaka triggerguard and (non functioning, as the follower is fixed) Arisaka magazine with an Arisaka buttplate. This rifle even has the very early Mosin flat rear sight ladder with increments in obsolete Arshin graduations. Bolt body numbered 18976 (NOT matching). Stock has stable-looking diagonal cracks on each side, stamped and painted numbers and faint letters on both sides.. Includes cleaning-rod. Near Excellent condition, most bluing remaining and very strong markings. Buttplate stamped 179510 (matching), bolt and magazine floorplate not matching. Bore is somewhat bright with strong rifling (counterbored at muzzle). Stock has some of the expected handling marks (but is sound), with Balkan "pinecone" cartouche on left side. Very Good or better condition with most bluing remaining on external metal (some external pitting on exposed parts of barrel. Bore is somewhat bright with pronounced rifling (has NOT been counterbored at muzzle). Buttplate stamped 225839 (matching), magazine floorplate and bolt mismatched. Buttstock has some scuffs and looks as if it was painted black at one time, handguard missing (couldn't be secured with the German front band anyway), cleaning rod missing (no hole for it to fit in). RUSSIAN Model 1891 DRAGOON Mosin-Nagant bolt-action rifle # 17051 (7.62x54R) mfg. by Izhevsk in 1916 and likely saw Romanian service (eagles on receiver and barrel pinged or ground off). Near Excellent condition, with 85% or better bluing on all metal parts. Bore is a bit rough but has strong rifling (and NOT counterbored at muzzle). Buttplate and magazine floorplate stamped 17051 (matching), bolt mismatched. The rarer Dragoon rifle has a blade front sight and a ladder rear sight like the larger 1891 rifle (rather than the hooded-post front and tangent rear sight of the later very common 91/30). SOVIET Model 1891 Mosin-Nagant bolt-action rifle # 1223 (7.62x54R) mfg. by Tula in 1919 with rare LARGE HAMMER on barrel shank. Excellent condition, with 90% or better bluing. Only bolt matches, magazine floorplate and buttplate has different serial numbers. Bore is somewhat bright and strong (has been counterbored at muzzle for increased accuracy). Buttstock and handguard has some of the expected handling marks, includes cleaning rod. By far the rarest 1891 rifle, only the second example we have ever encountered. PHOTOS . . . $1600. C&R SOLD
U.S.A. Model 1891 Mosin-Nagant bolt-action infantry rifle, # 513763 (7.62x54R) mfg. by Remington in 1917 with U.S,, eagle, and flaming bomb proofs on bottom of stock Excellent condition, with nearly all bluing on all metal parts and a mirror bright bore with very strong rifling. All parts have R in circle stamps, and all numbered parts (including cocking knob) bear full matching serial numbers 513763. Eagles and REMINGTON very boldly stamped. American walnut buttstock has clear 1917-dated circular Russian Imperial cartouche on right side and U.S. soldier's name BENNIE BOYD carved on right side by receiver. Handguard has old 6" long crack on top, else very few handling marks and nearly as made, Includes cleaning rod. When the Bolsheviks took power in 1917 they defaulted on the remaining Remington contract before the rifles already produced were serialized. In order to prevent the bankruptcy of Remington the U.S. government purchased many from the outstanding contract and issued them as-is to reserve troops. Not import marked, outstanding condition. U.S.A. Model 1891 Mosin-Nagant bolt-action rifle # 1297403 (7.62x54R) mfg. by New England Westinghouse in 1915 with straight logo with several eagle and flaming bomb U.S. property-marks on barrel-shank. Very Good or so condition with most bluing intact. Bore has some dark areas but is extremely strong. Only buttplate is matching, magazine floorplate and bolt mismatched, as is numbered cocking piece. Includes cleaning-rod and metal sling swivels. One-piece stock has seen quite a bit of use but is sound, handguard missing. U.S.A. Model 1891 Mosin Nagant bolt-action BANNERMAN conversion carbine # 517400 (.30-06) mfg. by Remington in 1917 (top of date barely visible). Excellent condition, 90% or better bluing remaining. Has bent-down bolt handle, 107400 is stamped on bolt body and back of cocking knob (barrel-shank was set back to re-chamber the barrel to .30-06, obliterating the barrel serial number in the process), circled R proofs (for Remington)_ stamped on all parts. Bore is bright and very strong. Barrel and original black walnut stock has been cut-down to carbine length and has 2" x 1/2" repair on left side by receiver, handguard is missing, Front sight is of Mauser blade type, adjustable for windage, original rifle rear sight is graduated in the obsolete Arshin measurement. Very Good condition, 70% or better bluing (most turning brown) remaining. Has bent-down bolt handle, no matching numbers (barrel-shank was set back to re-chamber top .30-06, obliterating the barrel number in the process). Bore is mostly bright and strong. Barrel and Remington black walnut stock (with strong 1917-dated cartouche) has been cut-down, handguard is missing. Front sight is a Krag-Jorgenson curved blade type (NOT adjustable for windage), original rifle rear sight is graduated in the obsolete Arshin measurement.
