VARIOUS MILITARY RIFLES

BRITISH Model Pattern 14 "Enfield" bolt-action rifle # W72716 (.303 British) mfg. in the U.S.A. by Winchester in 1914.   Excellent or better condition, with over 95% blued finish and a mirror-bright and strong bore, Winchester bolt also numbered 72716.  Buttstock is a replacement (without volley sights) and has a few minor scuffs and handling marks.  Not import marked, missing sling swivels. BRITISH Model Pattern 14 "Enfield" bolt-action rifle # W81163 (.303 British) mfg. in the U.S.A. by Winchester in 1914.   Very Good or better condition, with over 75% blued finish and a mostly bright and strong bore, bolt not matching (a British practice, as the bolts were originally not numbered).  Buttstock is the original with front sight base (missing its pointer, as usual).  Wood has many handling marks and scratches from actual use, but is sound with no cracks. CHINESE Model 56 SKS semiautomatic rifle # 8-1618769 (7.62x39) mfg. by Factory 6906 in 1963.  Excellent overall condition with full remaining bluing.  All matching serial numbers (18769) on every numbered part including stock . Chrome-lined bore is mirror bright, has cruciform spike bayonet and rear sling swivel on bottom of stock.  Stock hqas many handling marks from actual use but is not cracked or broken.  Includes cleaning rod, correct sling, and cleaning kit in buttrap. Not import marked, likely a Vietnam bringback (but no paperwork, as that was often discarded or misplaced after coming home).  Rare manufacturer.   PHOTOS . . . $1250.    C&R    

CHINESE Model 56 SKS semiautomatic rifle # 10403972Q (7.62x39) mfg. by Factory 56 (Jianshe) in 1966.  Excellent overall condition with full remaining bluing.  All matching serial numbers (03972) on every numbered part including stock (the Q in the serial number was stupidly added by the importer). Chrome-lined bore is mirror bright, cruciform spike bayonet was removed during the Clinton importation rules in early 1990's, has rear sling swivel on bottom of stock.  Stock looks new with very few extremely minor handling marks. Missing cleaning rod (as usual for these, as there is no way to retain it without the bayonet being present). Has cleaning kit in buttrap.  PHOTOS . . . $450.    C&R      SOLD 

CHINESE Model 56 SKS semiautomatic rifle # 10159750 (7.62x39) mfg. by Factory 56 (Jianshe) in 1966.  Very Good or better condition with most remaining bluing.  All matching serial numbers (59750) on every numbered part.  Chrome-lined bore is mirror bright. Stock has non-Chinese letters (likely names or maybe a town) carved with initials in places, and has a non-critical (and easily repairable) diagonal crack on right side. Is totally functional. CHINESE Model 56 SKS semiautomatic rifle # 11282842 (7.62x39) mfg. by Factory 56 (Jianshe) in 1967.  Good overall condition with no remaining bluing and some minor rust areas on external metal.  All matching serial numbers (82842) on every numbered part except stock (which is a very nice correct replacement numbered 03141), chrome-lined bore is mirror bright.  Is one of the beat-up SKS carbines imported from Romania with a grimy and broken matching-numbered stock covered in carved initials and Romanian names (which is included). Was literally covered inside and out with thick cosmoline when we got it, but now has been cleaned and is totally functional. Includes cleaning rod.   PHOTOS . . . $625.    C&R    

FINN Model 96 Mauser bolt-action rifle # 481953 (6.5x55), mfg. by Carl Gustaf in 1920 with straight bolt and unthreaded muzzle, [SA] stamped on left side of receiver.  Excellent condition, with 92% or better strong bluing on all metal (faded on magazine floorplate and trigger guard from contact with sweaty hands). Has strong markings and a bright and strong bore  (disk marked 6.50/1).  All visible parts numbered 953 with un-numbered cleaning rod.  Beech stock & handguard has a few scuffs and handling marks but is otherwise sound.  PHOTOS . . . $950.*     C&R   

ITALIAN Model 1891 Mannlicher-Carcano bolt-action infantry rifle # OR-E6899 (6.5x52) mfg. by Ordinance Roma in 1917.  Near Excellent condition with 90% or so strong bluing (magazine and barrel bands browned), bore is very bright and strong. Has straight bolt numbered 1A2500, stock was sanded and refinished many decades ago with a glossy lacquer (but is matching). Missing cleaning rod, not import-marked, a decent clean example with one 6-rouind charger clip included. PHOTOS . . . $525.*     C&R    SOLD

ITALIAN Model 91/28 Mannlicher-Carcano bolt-action cavalry carbine with attached folding bayonet # G8095 (6.5x52) mfg. by Terni in 1936 (year 14 of Mussolini).   Excellent condition, with full bluing on all metal, bore is mirror-bright and very strong. Beech stock is numbered G8095 (matching) and has a very bold 1936 dated Terni cartouche. Bent-bolt is unnumbered, stock and handguard has fewer than usual handling marks and scratches from actual service use ()has noncritical crack on right side of forend).  Not import marked, includes one en-bloc clip and leather sling. ITALIAN Model 38 Mannlicher-Carcano bolt-action cavalry carbine with attached folding bayonet # UR1691 (6.5x52) mfg. by Beretta in 1942 (year 20 of Mussolini).   Excellent condition, with full bluing on all metal, bore is mirror-bright and very strong. Beech stock is numbered UR1691 (matching). Bent-bolt is unnumbered, stock and handguard has fewer than usual handling marks and scratches from actual service use,  Not import marked, includes one en-bloc clip and leather sling. ITALIAN Model 41 Mannlicher-Carcano bolt-action infantry rifle # QL6681 (6.5x52) mfg. by Armaguerra Cremona in 1943-4 (undated). Excellent condition, nice bluing with very strong and bright bore. Stock has several minor nicks but has not been sanded (yay!) and is matching this rifle. Includes cleaning rod and one en-bloc clip. PHOTOS . . . $500.   C&R    SOLD

SOUTH AFRICAN REPUBLIC (Z.A.R.)  Model 1893 Mauser bolt-action rifle # C1690 (7x57) mfg. by D.W.M. in early 1899. Excellent condition, with 90% original bluing, receiver, stock, triggerguard and magazine floorplate all numbered C1690 (matching), bolt numbered C1520 (not matching).  Mostly bright and strong bore. This rifle also has a very bold Chilean crest above chamber and has late rear-sight with two adjustment springs. Wood has been sanded and has a few dings and scratches. SOUTH AFRICAN REPUBLIC (Z.A.R.)  Model 1893 Mauser bolt-action rifle # C2278 (7x57) mfg. by D.W.M. in early 1899. Very condition, with 90% original bluing on upper receiver and barrel, triggerguard, magazine floorplate & barrel bands show much fading due to exposure to sweaty hands. All matching serial numbers. Mostly bright and strong bore. This rifle also has a very bold Chilean crest above chamber and has early rear-sight with just one adjustment spring. Wood has never been sanded and has its original finish with a few dings and scratches. Scarce, one of only 4,000 manufactured and quite historic. SWISS Model 96/11 Schmidt-Rubin infantry rifle # 214732 (7.5x55mm) mfg. by Waffenfabrik Bern in 1897. Very Good condition, with 60% or so bluing on all metal parts wear at corners and sharp edges and at bottom of magazine and triggerguard from contact with sweaty hands. All-matching serial numbers including magazine. Bore is mirror-bright and extremely strong. Walnut stock and handguard has original finish with a few minor handling marks.  Not import marked. U.S.A. Model 1917 bolt-action rifle # 52998 (.30-06) made by Winchester in November 1917 with 12-17 dated Winchester barrel. Excellent condition, with nearly full bluing remaining on all external metal (has NOT been Parkerized). Bore is very bright and strong. Walnut stock and handguards are quite nice, but has several hairline cracks at grip. Includes leather Model 1905 sling.  Not import-marked. PHOTOS . . . $750.    C&R     SOLD

U.S.A. Model 1917 bolt-action rifle # 368664 (.30-06) made by Remington in July 1918 with 7-18 dated Remington barrel. Excellent condition, with full Parkerized finish remaining on all external metal. Bore is mirror bright and very strong. bottom of bolt stamped R as is forend of stock.  Walnut buttstock and handguard shows a few dings and scuffs but has original finish and has never been sanded. U.S.A. Model 1917 bolt-action rifle # 36668 (.30-06) made by Eddystone in 1917 with undated (WWII-era) replacement High Standard barrel.  Excellent condition, with nearly full Parkerized surfaces remaining on all external metal. U.S.A. Model 1917 bolt-action rifle # 807613 (.30-06) made by Eddystone in 1918 with undated (WWII-era) replacement High Standard barrel.  Excellent condition, with nearly full Parkerized surfaces remaining on all external metal. Walnut stock has one small cartouche on left side (3GM) and is in quite nice condition with W stamped on front (also has Winchester bolt). Not import-marked, includes new leather sling marked MRT. YUGOSLAVIAN Model 1959/66 A1 SKS semiautomatic rifle # F-131874 (7.62x39) mfg. by Zastava in 1969. Excellent condition, with 95% bluing, perfect bore and all-matching numbers with integral bayonet.   Has non-ported grenade-launcher and night-sights. Wood is beech and has only a few handling marks and dings from transport and storage. Includes cleaning-rod and hardbound logbook (which is quite externally soiled and worn) numbered to this rifle.  PHOTOS . . . $950.    C&R
