U.S.A. Model 1891 Mosin Nagant bolt-action rifle #1209387 (7.62x54R) mfg. by New England Westinghouse in 1917 (even though all are dated 1915). Excellent virtually UNISSUED condition with all matching numbers and a MINT bore. Cartouches on black-walnut stock are razor-sharp (even the "English Contract" circular cartouche), very bold U.S. flaming-bomb cartouche at bottom of stock just in front of magazine. Absolutely a GORGEOUS specimen! Unfortunately the previous owner had gotten the muzzle plugged up with a little mud and upon firing it bulged the barrel and blew off the front sight. Barrel was shortened (as was the forend of the stock) to 23 1/2" and a front-sight protector from a 1903 Springfield rifle was brazed on to act as a makeshift front-sight. Absolutely TRAGIC, but what can one do. . . not import-marked. PHOTO . . . $150. C&R SOLD
