MILITARY RIFLES

    BRITISH Martini-Henry Mark I short-lever single-shot rifle, no serial number (.577/450) mfg. by British Small Arms in 1872.  A "Zulu War" era rifle in Good or better condition with little external finish remaining. All markings very strong and clear. All original (not a Khyber-pass or copy) and 100% functional with a mostly bright bore that has very strong rifling. Rear sight is a leaf adjustable from 100-1200 yards. Original stock in quite good shape with no cracks or arsenal repairs. Includes cleaning rod and an ornate brass slip-on nose cap that adds lower elevation adjustment (battle distance instead of long distance).  Completely functional, not import-marked, includes military capture documentation from Afghanistan.     BRITISH Martini-Henry Mark III short-lever single-shot carbine (converted from rifle) # A2752 (.303 British) marked on right side of receiver as mfg. by British Small Arms and Motorcycle Company in 1901 but most likely a Khyber Pass copy as no other proof markings present (and Queen Victoria died in January of that year).  Excellent condition with full heavily polished and blued finish with a bright bore that has very strong rifling. Rear sight is a leaf adjustable from 600-1800 yards but lacks its slider. Original stock in quite good shape with small (1/3" x 1") arsenal repair on left side, faint arsenal stamps on right side. No cleaning rod.  Completely functional, very tiny import-mark below barrel. PHOTOS . . . $750.     C&R    

    CHILEAN Model 1935 Mauser bolt-action Carbinero carbine # 1387 (7x57mm) mfg. by Waffenfabrik Mauser in 1935. Very Good condition, with 00% bluing (much less on front barrel-band and barrel from exposure to sweaty hands), very strong mostly bright bore and all-matching serial numbers. This has turned-down bolt with carbine rear-sight, strong crest above chamber and Mauser banner on rear of receiver. Wood has a few dings from normal handling, but nothing major and has original finish (faint 1935-dated cartouche on left side of stock), small crack to rear of tang.     CZECH Model 98k  reproduction zf41 Mauser bolt-action sharpshooting rifle # 5880k (8x57) mfg. by Brno postwar.  A postwar 98k that has been converted to a sharpshooting rifle for WWII reenacting purposes. Some joker stamped eage/swastikas over the Czech two-tailed bear logo, and even stamped byf above chamber. Scope and mount are Czech made reproductions (with very clear optics). Bolt is matching, other parts are not.  Has 98+% bluing with mostly bright bore. Buttstock is laminated with some minor handling marks and a cupped buttplate.  Includes cleaning-rod, front sight hood, and reproduction 98k sling as well as metal scope case.  Not import-marked.  PHOTO . . . $1450.   C&R      SOLD

    FINN Model 27 Mosin-Nagant bolt-action rifle # 23490 (7.62x54R), mfg. by Tikka in 1928.   Excellent condition, with 95% or better bluing and an excellent very bright bore (has NOT been counterbored).  Bolt-knob numbered 3490 (matching).  Incredibly beautiful vivid tigerstriped Birch stock has a few bumps and dings from actual service use, handguard has thin 4" long hairline crack at top.  Includes green-leather sling and side-mounted front swivel.  PHOTOS . . . $1250.      C&R     

    FINN Model 27 Mosin-Nagant bolt-action rifle # 80772 (7.62x54R), mfg. by Tikka in 1934.   Excellent-PLUS condition, with 98% or better bluing and an excellent mirror-bright bore (has NOT been counterbored).  Bolt-knob numbered 0772 (matching).  Excellent Birch stock has a few scuffs but otherwise looks almost new.  Includes [SA] marked brown-leather sling and cleaning rod.   PHOTOS . . . $1025.      C&R     SOLD

    FINN Model 39 Mosin-Nagant bolt-action rifle # 202634 (7.62x54R), mfg. by SAKO in 1941 on an post-1898 receiver.   Very Good condition, with full (but fading) bluing and an mostly bright bore.  Bolt-knob and magazine floorplate numbered 2634 to match.  Wartime STRAIGHT stock (rounded finger-joints) has dings and handling marks from actual service use with deep SAKO wheel cartouche on right side.     FINN Model 39 Mosin-Nagant bolt-action rifle # 41880 (7.62x54R), mfg. by VKT (Valmet) in 1941 on an post-1898 receiver.   Very Good condition, with full (but fading) bluing and an mostly bright bore.  Bolt-knob numbered 1880 to match.  Wartime STRAIGHT stock (rounded finger-joints) has some dings and handling marks but is decent with thick "popsickle-stick" braces on each side.     GERMAN Model 98k Mauser bolt-action rifle # 7918nn (8x57mm) mfg. by Mauser (code byf) in 1942.  Very Good condition, with 80% or so bluing and intact Nazi markings (Nazi eagle / swastika) on left side of receiver. The bore is a bit rough but strong, Bolt not matching but other parts do.  Buttstock is laminated with cupped buttplate. Includes cleaning rod, rear barrel band incorrect for model.     GERMAN Model 98k Mauser bolt-action rifle # 6483t (rebarrelled to 7.62x51 NATO) mfg. by Bystrica (code dou) in 1943.  Excellent condition, with 98+% re bluing and intact Nazi markings (Nazi eagle / swastika) on left side of receiver. The bore is excellent and mirror-bright. Bolt is matching but no other parts do.  Buttstock is laminated with cupped buttplate and has German cartouches on right side.     GERMAN Model G43 semiautomatic SNIPER rifle # 7104g (8x57mm) mfg. by Walther (code ac) in 1944.  Near Excellent condition, matching-numbered bolt carrier, bottom of buttstock not matching. Very strong and mostly bright bore, 80% external finish, Has laminated handguard and correct ZF4 scope (with reproduction mount held on with two hose-clamps as the original clamps were very brittle and easily broken) as well as front sight-hood and cleaning rod.  Includes gob code K43 magazine with usual chipping black paint.  Optics are excellent, stock has been nicely refinished but eagle/swastika cartouche on left side still discernable.     ISRAELI Model 98k bolt-action rifle # 588990 (7.62x51 NATO) mfg. by Fabrique National in 1954.  Very Good condition, with mottled bluing on metal surfaces, small parts turning brown with age. Bolt is mismatched, barrel-bands milled, remaining small parts are stamped with large "winter" trigger-guard.  Bore is mirror-bright with permanently-attached front sight-hood, bold Israeli IDF crest above chamber. Beech 7.62-marked buttstock has quite a few handling-marks, scratches and dings from actual use but is sound. No cleaning-rod (stock was not ever routed out to accept one), buttplate rusty.  PHOTOS . . . $750.    C&R    SOLD

    SWEDISH Model 96/38 bolt-action Mauser short rifle # 64685 (6.5x55) mfg. by Carl Gustaf in 1900 with straight bolt and non-threaded muzzle.  Very Good or so condition, about 60% external bluing fading to brown. Has bright and strong bore (disk stamped 6.49/3), all visible parts serial numbered 685 except barrel-bands, rear sight and cleaning rod.   Beech stock and handguard has many handling-marks (mostly compressions and scuffs) over the past 125 years, rectangular range plate tacked to right side.     SWISS Model 1897 Schmidt-Rubin CADET single-shot straight-pull carbine # 6880 (7.5x53.5mm) mfg. by Waffenfabrik Bern in 1898. All-matching numbers, Good condition with very little bluing remaining but a very bright bore. Walnut stock has nice grain and some minor marks from actual use.     SWISS Model 1889/1900 Schmidt-Rubin straight-pull short rifle # 17522 (7.5x53.5mm) mfg. by Waffenfabrik Bern in 1911 (last year of issue) which was sold privately out of service in 1938.   All-matching serial numbers, Very Good or better condition with 80% or better bluing remaining and a near-perfect mirror-bore. Walnut stock has nice grain and some minor marks from actual use. Includes correct Swiss military leather sling.  Very scarce precursor of the K11 carbine.  PHOTO . . . $650.   C&R   SOLD

    U.S.A. Model 1873 Trapdoor Springfield rifle # 268636 (.45-70) mfg. by Springfield Arsenal in 1885 with bold 1884 dated cartouche on left side of stock. Very Good overall condition with most external bluing remaining. Bore is extremely bright and very strong.  Sound walnut stock has boxed SWP 1884 cartouche as well as very interesting DETROIT BOARD OF COMMERCE (!) rectangular cartouche on left side towards butt. Includes very worn leather sling.     U.S.A. Model 1903 Springfield bolt-action rifle # 3231392 (.30-06) mfg. by Remington in August 1942.   Excellent condition with 98% deep bluing on all metal. A decent example with bright and strong 8-42 dated RA four-groove barrel.  Bore is excellent and mirror-bright (TE = 1.0, MW = 0.0), scant walnut stock has some minor dings and a boxed RA-P cartouche.     U.S.A. Model M1 Garand semiautomatic rifle # 2051136 (.30-06) mfg. by Springfield Armory in October 1943 and refurbished at TOOELE in Dec. 1964.  Excellent condition with full light gray Parkerized finish remaining on all metal, replacement SA 9-64 barrel has a somewhat bright bore (TE = 1.0, MW = 2.0), all parts SA-marked with relieved op rod.   New walnut stock and handguards with CMP cartouche on left side.     U.S.A. Model M1 Carbine semiautomatic rifle # 500626 (.30 Carbine) mfg. by Inland (a divsion of General Motors in Summer 1943 with a 7-43 dated Inland barrel.  Very Good condition, metal has some wear to Parkerized finish with a mirror bright bore and with 1.0 muzzle-wear. This features all early features such as flat-topped bolt, push-button safety, flip type rear sight and early front band without bayonet-lug. Walnut stock and handguard has quite a few dings and handling marks. Includes two 15-round magazines (only where legal) in pouch with correct web sling and oiler. Model M1 Carbine semiautomatic rifle # 3506532 (.30 Carbine) mfg. by Saginaw Steering Gear (a divsion of General Motors in Fall 1944 with an undated Saginaw S.G. barrel.  Excellent condition, metal has mostly full Parkerized finish with a mirror bright bore and with 2.0 muzzle-wear. This features a flat-topped bolt, flip-type safety, adjustable rear sight and late front band with bayonet-lug. Walnut stock and handguard has quite a few dings and handling marks.     YUGOSLAVIAN Model 98k  high-turret SNIPER Mauser bolt-action rifle # D9077 (8x57) mfg. during WWII by Nazi arsenals, remarked PREDUZECE 44 after the war ended. Perhaps a relic of the Balkan Wars, serial numbers match on stock and magazine floorplate. bolt has been scrubbed, rear sight totally mismatched. Bore is excellent and mirror bright, optics on JENA Zeilever scope are excellent, has reproduction leather sling and leather rear sight cover. If this is a put-together item they did a very good job.
