ARGENTINE Model 1891 Mauser bolt-action rifle # E.M.32 (7.65x54) mfg. by Loewe in late 1894. Excellent condition, with 95% or better bluing, crest has been neatly removed from top of receiver (as usual), top of barrel-shank marked ESCUELA MILITAR with large castle waving flag (a special issue of 125 rifles made for the military school). All numbered parts numbered to receiver (including stock and cleaning-rod). Bore is excellent and extremely bright with very strong rifling. Stock has original finish with few handling marks from actual use. Features short handguard. Not import-marked. Rare, one of only 125 produced, and a very attractive example. PHOTOS . . . $1750. AUSTRIAN Model 1895 Mannlicher straight-pull bolt-action carbine # 5217A (8x50R original chambering) mfg. by Steyr (barrel dated 1899). Good to Very Good condition, not an arsenal rework with almost no remaining bluing. Bore is mostly bright with very strong rifling. Bolt not numbered, stock weakly numbered 5217 on left side, with attractive wood. Apparently a bring-back from WWI, as the stock has been duffle-cut beneath the barrel band. BRITISH Model No.5 Mk.1 Enfield bolt-action "Jungle Carbine" # R9558 (.303 British) mfg. at Fazakerly in September, 1945. Excellent condition, with most black enamel "stoving" finish intact on external metal, chipping onl;y on magazine. Bolt stamped R9558 (matching). Has mirror-bright 5-groove bore and 1-marked bolt-head. Stock has been sanded and coated with boiled linseed oil (BLO), leaving a very glossy finish. Not import marked. PHOTOS . . . $750. C&R SOLD
CHINESE Model "Zhongzheng" Mauser bolt-action short rifle # R6759 (8x57) mfg. by Kung Hsien (Kunming), c.1945. Good or so condition, weak markings above chamber, small backwards swastika by serial number, some light scattered rust on small parts. Triggerguard matches receiver & barrel, but nothing else does, bore is rough but usable. Stock is walnut with some handling marks from use and thin repaired diagonal cracks at wrist. CHINESE Model "Zhongzheng" Mauser bolt-action short rifle # V5956 (8x57) mfg. by Kung Hsien (Kunming), c.1945. Good or so condition, very weak markings above chamber, small backwards swastika by serial number, some light scattered rust on small parts. CHINESE Type 53 Mosin-Nagant bolt-action carbine with attached spike bayonet # 3238567 (7.62x54R) mfg. by Factory 26 in 1955. Very Good condition with 80% or better bluing on all metal parts. Magazine floorplate and buttplate serial number matches barrel, bolt does not (not unusual for these). Bore is dark but has strong rifling. CHINESE Type 53 Mosin-Nagant bolt-action carbine with attached spike bayonet # 4032655 (7.62x54R) mfg. by Factory 26 in 1956. Very Good condition with 80% or better bluing on all metal parts. No matching serial numbers, bore is mostly bright and strong. Buttstock and handguard has quite a few scuffs and scrapes and looks weathered, repaired crack at toe, handguard has thin crack. CHINESE Model 56 SKS semiautomatic rifle # 2400816 (7.62x39), made at Factory 26 in 1958 with blade-bayonet. Very Good condition overall, metal has wear with 60% original bluing, some porosity on action cover, bolt knob, and right side. Stock has seen rough handling from actual use and storage. Action has matching serial numbers, triggerguard and magazine from a different rifle. Has gorgeous chrome-lined bore. CHINESE Model 56 SKS semiautomatic rifle # 3160699 (7.62x39), made at Factory 26 in 1959 with blade-bayonet. Good condition overall, metal has much wear and some rust mostly on left side. Stock has seen rough handling from actual use and storage, a chunk on left side missing (revealing the rusted metal underneath). Action has matching serial numbers, triggerguard and magazine from a different rifle, buttplate needs work, missing cleaning rod. Has gorgeous chrome-lined bore. FINN Model 39 Mosin-Nagant bolt-action rifle # 07056 (7.62x54R) barrel mfg. by VKT in 1940 on a hex receiver. Excellent-PLUS condition with 99% or better bluing on all metal parts. Bolt-knob stamped 7056 (matching), bore is strong and mirror-bright (has NOT been counterbored at muzzle). Postwar buttstock (squared finger-joints) has some minor scuffs from storage and handling. Includes cleaning rod and Finnish arsenal-tag dated August 15, 1979. Very rare, made in the mid-1970's from reconfigured surplus M91 barrels (the first true M39 rifles were not produced until 1941). FINN Model 39 ex-PE SNIPER Mosin Nagant bolt-action rifle # 35085 (7.62x54R) barrel mfg. in 1941 by VKT on a post-1898 receiver, three holes drilled on both sides of the host rifle for a PE top mount. Excellent condition with 90% or better bluing. Bolt-knob numbered 5085 (matching). Bore is extremely strong and mirror-bright (and NOT counterbored). FINN Model 39 Mosin Nagant bolt-action rifle # 508629 (7.62x54R) barrel mfg. in 1943 by SAKO on a post-1898 receiver with SK.Y civil-guard marking. Excellent condition with 95% or better bluing. Bolt-knob numbered 8629 (matching). Bore is extremely strong and mirror-bright (and NOT counterbored). Right side of barrel-shank stamped S75704, which indicates the Saimaa Civil Guard District (a large lake in SouthEastern Finland). Original buttstock with 1943-dated Civil Guard cartouche has a some dings and compressions from actual service use and some gouges on right side of forend (likely caused by bolt of adjacent rifle during transportation. FINN Model 39 Mosin Nagant bolt-action rifle # 47042 (7.62x54R), barrel by VKT in 1942 for the Finnish Army Signal Corps. Excellent condition, with full original bluing on all parts and very strong markings. Bolt-knob and magazine floorplate stamped 7042 (matching), top of barrel-shank stamped V. Bore is mirror-bright with perfect rifling (NOT counterbored at muzzle). FINN Model 39 Mosin Nagant bolt-action rifle # 65557 (7.62x54R), barrel by VKT in 1944. Excellent-PLUS condition, with full bluing on all parts and very strong markings. Bolt-knob stamped 5557 (matching), left side of barrel-shank stamped 7.62x53R. Bore is mirror-bright with perfect rifling (NOT counterbored at muzzle). Finn two-piece postwar stock (squared finger-joints) has a couple very light nicks from handling but is sound and looks as-new, thin crack on top of handguard. FRENCH Model 1936-51 MAS bolt-action rifle # G45147 (7.5x54mm) mfg. by St. Ettienne in November 1958. Excellent-PLUS (literally UNISSUED) condition, with 99% or better dark Parkerized finish on all metal. Mirror-bright bore, all matching numbers, including the stock. Stock and handguard have virtually no handling marks and look new. Includes integral spike-bayonet, grenade launcher, as well as pouches containing sling, cleaning pull-through, and French military manual. GERMAN Model Gewehr 98 bolt-action infantry rifle # 2684f (8x57mm) mfg. by V. Chr. Schilling in 1918. Poor to Fair condition, this obviously went to CHINA and has had a rough life. No matching serial numbers, has browned eroded metal surfaces and, aside from the intact rollercoaster rear sight (that doesn't lock), doesn't have much to recommend it. Bore is very worn and dark, right side of stock has two large oval and one smaller round cartouches containing blurred Chinese characters. Front band-spring and cleaning rod missing, sling swivels are makeshift, safety needs adjusting, else complete and functional. If cleaned up a bit it could make a decent-looking inexpensive rifle for WWI re-enacting, but don't buy this expecting a shooter. Not import marked. PHOTOS . . . $275. C&R SOLD
GERMAN Model 98k bolt-action rifle # 577 (8mm) having TWO DEATH-HEAD marking (totenkopf, one with runic SS letters and the second with runic SS letters plus number 2 above) on left barrel-shank. This was originally a WWI-era Gewehr 98 made by uncertain manufacturer (top markings scrubbed, as usual) and reconfigured to the 98k configuration by the SS in December 1939 (marked as such under barrel). Good to Very Good condition, with little original external bluing remaining. Bolt (and all bolt parts) numbered 6356, remainder of parts mismatched (as can be expected). Bore was full of thick grease, but has cleaned up and is bright and strong, import-marked on right side of barrel. Laminated stock has quite a few handling-marks and scuffs in the finish and a flat buttplate. A genuine operable Waffen SS rifle, authenticity of markings guaranteed, very rare. PHOTOS . . . $1750. GERMAN Model 98k Mauser bolt-action rifle # 20061 (8x57) mfg. by Gustloff Werke (code bcd 4 ) in 1944. Good to Very Good condition, with very little remaining bluing but has Nazi eagles. No matching serial numbers, has all-milled parts (solid front band), bore is quite worn but shootable. Has laminated buttstock and handguard that is quite weathered and, aside from a 1" very thin crack behind tang, is sound. It is missing barrel-band spring. TURKISH Model 98 Mauser bolt-action rifle # 3936 (8x57) rearsenaled by Ankara arsenal in 1954. Excellent condition, with 90% or better bluing remaining on all external metal. This was originally a WWI-era German Gewehr 98 that was reconfigured ("roller-coaster" rear sight removed and replaced with more usable tangent rear sight) and re-branded by the Turks. Bore is extremely bright and strong, Completely functional, includes cleaning-rod. Stock is walnut with considerable handling marks and stains, still has much remaining cosmoline. PHOTOS . . . $275.
